Support Groups

Paraquad's Support Groups provide members with information and resources as well as opportunities to participate in social activities. For more information about any of Paraquad's Support Groups, contact the Information and Referral line at 314/289-4200 (voice) or 314/289-4252 (tty).

Family Participation Program

The Family Participation Program provides assistance for parents with physical disabilities and their families through support groups, phone and internet networks, access to resources, and a speakers bureau on selected topics. Meetings are held every third Thursday from 12:00-1:30pm at the Paraquad office.

Men's Support Group

The Men's Support Group offers opportunities for men with disabilities to learn more about available community resources as well as socialize with their peers. Members meet once a month to discuss a variety of issues including transportation, employment, advocacy, financial management, housing, and health care.

Women's Support Group

The Women's Support Group offers opportunities for women with disabilities to learn more about available community resources as well as socialize with their peers. Members meet once a month to discuss a variety of issues including transportation, employment, advocacy, financial management, housing, and health care.

Youth Group

The Youth Group focuses on social and recreational activities that promote the development of social skills not acquired in segregated environments. Participants include young people with and without disabilities. Non-disabled youth develop an awareness and understanding of their disabled peers and learn to work and play side-by-side with people with disabilities, while youth with disabilities learn to participate within the community as an equal. Paraquad's Youth Group targets youth between the ages of 13-21 and their families. The Youth Group meets once a month for group discussions and community outings.
