The Missouri Disability Vote Project (MDVP), established by Paraquad in 2001, focuses on increasing voter registration and turnout within the disability community. The statewide, 501(c)(3), grassroots project is a coalition of 30 disability-focused organizations conducting nonpartisan Get Out the Vote (GOTV) campaigns.

Organizations that become part of the Missouri Disability Vote Project make increased voter turnout an organizational priority. This involves:

  • Organizing member contacts, mostly through volunteer phone banks and direct mail, to encourage their members to vote
  • Registering people with disabilities to vote and educating new voters
  • Educating the public on the voting rights of people with disabilities
  • Advocating for accessible polling sites and voting equipment
  • Sponsoring candidate forums and events, and offering rides to the polls on Election Day

By working cooperatively with the Missouri Secretary of State, local election boards, and county clerks, the coalition assists election authorities in meeting the regulations of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA). Guide to the Help America Vote Act
