Social Security

By

Did you know that in Missouri, almost 67 percent of people who apply for Social Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) are denied? Social Security can provide a critical financial safety net for people living with a disability who have no other source of income.

The assistance of an attorney oftentimes is necessary to help someone work through the appeal process. Paraquad’s Public Policy and Advocacy Department provides legal advice, referrals and representation to people with disabilities through its Individual Legal Advocacy Program. The program is expanding to help people through the Social Security determination and appeal process.

People with disabilities who have applied for SSI or SSDI and who have had their application denied can contact Paraquad staff attorney Kimberly Lackey to see if they are eligible for legal assistance. If Paraquad is unable to provide assistance, advice on how to proceed and a referral will be provided.

Contact Kimberly at klackey@paraquad.org or 314-289-4355 for more information.
