By becoming a founding member of Ambassadors for Independence, you will be supporting the Bloom Café training program throughout 2020. Annually, members will vote to choose each year’s project for support. Ambassadors’ giving will fund programs that are pivotal to furthering Paraquad’s mission of empowering people with disabilities to become independent through choice and opportunity; because employment leads to independence.

Paraquad serves more than 2,300 people with all types of disabilities through more than 20 programs and services including employment, independent living, personal care services, youth and family, public policy and advocacy, information and referral, health and wellness, and the Bloom Café training program.
The Bloom Café training program is a three-step employment program for people with disabilities. Students receive 15 weeks of culinary instruction and soft skills training. The students will then be placed in a paid internship to hone the skills they learned. An employment specialist will assist students with the job search, interview, and job placement.
Oftentimes, the most difficult step towards employment for people with disabilities is acquiring the first opportunity. This training program and job placement opportunity is an integral first step towards competitive employment for people with disabilities.
