Medicaid Expansion: Effectively Engaging the Hispanic Community
Ensuring No One is Left Behind
Time: 12:00p- 1:00p CST
Date: Tuesday, April 27, 2021
Place: Zoom (Register for the Link!)
As part of our ‘Community Voices for Medicaid’ initiative, Paraquad is excited to partner with El Centro for an informational seminar. We will begin with a brief background on Medicaid, who will be covered under expansion, and the expected enrollment process. Then we will jump into the demography of Missouri’s Hispanic community, health coverage statistics, common barriers to care, and strategies for ensuring that the information gets into the hands of the people who need it the most.
This is a crucial discussion and all are welcome and encouraged to attend. If you are an education professional or social services provider who is interested in improving your engagement and outreach skills to the Latino community, this is an opportunity to broaden your knowledge and begin to develop an effective strategy. If you are someone who works closely with Missouri’s Latino population, we hope you will attend and offer your perspective on how the community can be better served.
Of the 205,000 Missourians expected to become eligible for Medicaid on July 1st when Expansion is implemented, 6%, or roughly 12,000 of them are Hispanic. Even with expanded Medicaid coverage, the Hispanic community faces unique barriers to healthcare access, information, and resources. As agencies, providers, and educators, it is essential to understand what these barriers are, the importance of overcoming them, and effective strategies for ensuring no one is left behind.
This is a free event and all are welcome. Access to healthcare is crucial to everyone’s health and wellbeing – we hope to see you there!
