Effective immediately, Paraquad’s Deaf Way Interpreting Services is closed for business. While Deaf Way provided valuable services to the deaf and hard of hearing community, the program is a duplicated service in the St. Louis community and is no longer financially viable. Greater emphasis will be placed on Paraquad’s core programming required for all Centers for Independent Living, including Peer support; Independent living skills training; Transition services; Advocacy; and Information and referral. Arrangements are being made for current Deaf Way clients to be served by other St. Louis interpreters and interpreting agencies. Paraquad continues to support the deaf and hard of hearing community via its core programming, video phone services, and the Telecommunication Access Program (TAP).

We regret the disruption to the deaf and hard of hearing community and to our community partners. There is never an easy or a right way to make a difficult business decision.

We recognize many of our community partners still have outstanding balances to reconcile. To make a payment, please visit https://www.paraquad.org/how-to-help/donate/ and follow these instructions:

  • Under “Gift Type” select “One-time gift”
  • Under “Gift Amount” select “Other” and input the exact amount owed
  • Designate to “General Support”
  • In the “Leave a comment” box, indicate that the payment is for Deaf Way
  • Fill out payment information and click “donate”

For information on other St. Louis area interpreting agencies, please contact Paraquad’s Information and Referral Department: contactus@paraquad.org or 314-289-4266.

Thank you for your continued support as we continue to realign and strengthen the foundation of Paraquad.
