Paraquad’s Youth Services Program focuses on social and recreational activities that promote the development of social skills not acquired in segregated environments. Participants include young people with and without disabilities. Non-disabled youth develop an awareness and understanding of their disabled peers and learn to work and play side-by-side with people with disabilities, while youth with disabilities learn to participate within the community as an equal.
Paraquad’s Youth Group targets youth between the ages of 12-24 and their families. Participants show a commitment to and understanding of the Independent Living Movement, disability rights and advocacy. Participants also build skills while having fun within the community. The Youth Group meets once a month during the school year. During summer months, activities like computer camp and community outings are offered.
