AccessibleSTL Roundtable Summer Series
Session #3: Website Accessibility
Time: 12:00 – 1:30 pm CST
Date: Wednesday, August 26, 2020
Place: The comfort of your own home or office
Websites represent the initial and primary point of contact for businesses and organizations in the workplace today, making website accessibility a critical consideration for both employers and employees with disabilities. This session begins with an overview and discussion of the universal Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), before moving into evaluating websites through the lens of accessibility. An in-depth discussion of the four principles required of websites (perceivable, operable, understandable, robust [POUR]) as it applies to the site’s content, images and videos. Color and contrast along with website navigation will also be covered.
Attendees can expect to increase their awareness and understanding of website accessibility, including a helpful checklist of 10 tips they can use to create and maintain an accessible website. We hope you’ll join us for the third and final Roundtable event in our 2020 AccessibleSTL Summer Series.
This summer series is a remote alternative to our usual AccessibleSTL Roundtable luncheon events traditionally hosted at Paraquad. While we normally charge for AccessibleSTL trainings, we are offering this series free as a public service to the community. We understand the economic crisis COVID -19 has created, and we are resolved to empower employees with disabilities and their employers to continue working effectively through this storm.
